What can you expect?

The initial session is an opportunity for you to see whether you want to work with me (or whether counselling is right for you at all), without making a formal commitment. It also gives me a chance to see whether I am the right counsellor for you.

At the initial session you will have an opportunity to voice your problems and to tell me what you want from counselling. In turn I will answer any questions you have and will discuss any expectations you may have about the work. If we decide to work together we will agree a weekly contract, either up to 16 weeks for counselling or open-ended for therapy. All sessions last 50 minutes, and the charge for the initial session is the same as for the regular sessions. During the course of the therapy we will review our work at regular intervals, as it is important that you have control over your own progress and move at a pace which suits you.

These sessions will provide you with a safe and confidential space where you can examine all options available to you in your life and learn how to become more aware of what you want and how you may be limiting yourself. I won't avoid asking searching questions, but unlike a chat with a friend, I am there to listen without judging you or offering advice. I believe that only you know what is best for you and it is my role to help you unlock this.
